Frequently Asked Questions
What are the signs my dog needs professional training?
It's never too early to seek out a professional! However, here are a few indicators to look for:
-
Persistent unwanted behaviours - pulling on leash, jumping on people, excessive barking, having "selective hearing"
-
Difficulty settling - a dog who can't calm down or is "always on"
-
Fearfulness or reactivity - barking, lunging, fear of sounds
-
Growing frustration at home - when everyday routines like feeding, grooming, or visitors become stressful for you or your dog
-
Lack of progress despite your efforts - you've tried everything but nothing seems to stick!
Feeling frustrated, tired, and out of options? Time to hire a professional!

What's the best age to start puppy training?
Puppy training can start the day you bring them home, typically 8-10 weeks old. You'll thank yourself when they hit the teenage phase!
Our puppy classes are designed to accommodate puppies from 8 weeks to 6 months. We use lots of rewards and games to get them on track.

How do I choose the right trainer for my dog?
These are the 3 things we recommend looking for when choosing a trainer:
-
They use rewards in their training system. Dog training is based on communication and motivation - rewards are a necessity!
-
They tailor their training to fit your dog's needs. There is no one size fits all approach. All dogs learn differently and we must honour that.
-
They build your confidence along with your dog's. There is no place for judgement in training, we've all struggled with our dogs.
When choosing a trainer, make sure you do your research and ask questions. You want to find the right fit for you and your dog!
